Celebration of Life
This week marks a lamentable chapter in America when our Supreme Court made a decision as unjust as abetting slavery. (The Dred Scott Decision) A day will come when the supreme court justices, ruling that human life is not protected under the Constitution, will be embarrassed by their jurisprudence. Until that day, it is appropriate for us to continue being a conscience for others and to use this anniversary as a reminder of how nefarious a country can become, with this decision only less than 30 years after Germany was gassing to death the Jews, the handicapped and those who attempted to protect them.
It’s not a question of whether we like babies or not. It’s a question of whether we understand civility based and how we value human life. Our understanding of our humanity is related to our comprehension that we are made in the image of God. So are we winning the culture war?
Most of us know our country at a tenuous point where it can go either way. It may appear that we are winning the abortion battle; yet promiscuity, divorce and the babies born without married parents is putting a dismal cloud over our efforts at optimism. Since 1973, more than 55 million innocent people have been destroyed deliberately through abortion in our country alone.
When will we stop destroying our offspring? The problem in not just legislative, judicial or executive, although all three branches are culpable for continuing the problem. Nor is one political party to blame. It has to do with what is in our hearts.
The answer is both political and spiritual. When our citizens become more moral, they will elect leaders with a desire to protect all human life. Families would pull together to help each other before there is an unwanted pregnancy. Judges wouldn’t dare to make activist decisions for fear of being shamed and embarrassed by their tarnished records. We can do better than this!
This week I interviewed Dr. Timothy Daughtry who shared his thoughts as well as a great explanation of how we can wake up the sleeping giant. Like a person freezing to death, WE CAN’T AFFORD TO GO TO SLEEP NOW! Those on the Left are outsmarting us every day and every year, but we can fight to take back the lost ground. It’s time to start playing the same game and time to get better at it. This is a “Life or Death” situation.
What You Can Do:
1.) We need to correct our vocabulary and the vocabulary of those around us. Don’t allow people to get away with saying they are “Pro-Choice” when they really mean, “Pro-Abortion”. Those who are truly pro-choice would allow both parties to have a choice and in abortion, the baby never is allowed to choose. All people are entitled to their opinions, but we ought to require intellectually honest terms.
2.) Attend a rally. It will make you feel good and will encourage the hearts of those who are organizing the event. Here are a few options:
