What is the real “war on women”? It’s curious how many women claim they want “equality” or even preference when it comes to legislative involvement for pay, benefits and jobs. Yet, few understand how much women have lost when our culture moves toward sexual permissiveness.

Catherine Hanaway spoke at a conference I attended recently. View her speech here.

Her remarks were spot on, yet several left-leaning media outlets have treated her with hostility and name calling. This just shows how short-sighted, small-minded and cruel people can be when reminded of the importance of having moral standards. Here’s one example: Catherine Hanaway Channels Her Inner Todd Aiken. Let me make it simple for all of us to understand:

  • Crusades

This is a photo of me with Judge Jeannine Pirro at the Educational Policy Conference. She did a memorable presentation about Islam. One of my favorite quotes I use from her is, "This political correctness is going to kill us."

One of my Facebook friends wrote this:

“I’m starting to think having a President who doesn’t understand the history, traditions, or laws of his own country is a bad idea.”

The purpose of this newsletter is not to bash the president or Islamic sympathizers. We all need to be kind, loving and always reaching out to anyone who wants to hear the truth. However, there is a point when we need to be honest enough to call a foul when we see one.

The President spoke last week at the National Prayer Breakfast. First, I should point out that it was good of him to attend. Given his record of absence for the National Day of Prayer in May every year, it is noteworthy when he lends support to one of our Nation’s time honored traditions.

The President most likely trusted his speech writers to define the correct tone and content, but he still bears responsibility for putting his final approval and being the delivery agent for these messages. He ended up making comments that were hurtful and inaccurate.

  • Drugs

This is a photo of tests people can buy at a dollar store. Doesn't it make you wonder who is buying these and why people are buying these?

We are now up to 28 states where marijuana is legal “for medicinal purposes” and four for “recreational purposes”. The states that already legalized it are providing us with a live experiment.

Those who like the idea of free-markets and personal responsibility question how it is right for the government to restrict these drugs.

  • State of The Union

We went to Washington DC last week. While we were looking at the Nation's gems, I was again reminded of how important our country is, not only to us, but to the entire world. You might not recognize this as the Washington Monument because it is so tall and we were so close to the base, but indeed it is. The photographer had to lay on the ground just to get the entire monument into the picture.

This was taken a few years ago when the Lewis and Clark Pachyderm Club asked me to be the guest speaker at one of their meetings. Someone realized it was our anniversary and honored us with a cake.

  • Stay The Course!

We all have different reasons for the hope that is within us. The world sometimes has bad news, but as long as we can find a few friends who are like-minded, we can help each other. This is a photo taken of me with my friends Cindy Redburn and Laurie Kish at a meeting we had in Rolla, Missouri a few months ago.

Anyone who has watched the news recently has seen some sad stories about France, economic woes, the Muslims beheading innocent children and our American way of life being compromised by the racists, the haters and Atheists.

Yet, there is some good news.

The Bill of Rights was adopted to put into words what we already should know instinctively. Unfortunately, we live in a confused country where our history and our heritage has not been taught for years in many places. People tend to forget the sacrifices of those who allowed us to enjoy the gift of freedom.

It’s my mission to remind us.

In my podcast this week, I interview Cecily Wright on the topic of the Bill of Rights and what is involved in the first ten amendments to our Constitution.

  • 2015: What’s Next?

This is a photo we took on Christmas day with my parents, Gordon and Marylin Gosh, husband on the end, five of my children, Cathryn, Susanna, Amanda and Matthew (in the back), nephew, Daniel, and son, Philip in the front (being corralled by me and my mom).

We never know what a year will hold, but we know the principles that work every time…Faith, Hope and Love.

If you make New Year’s resolutions, think about what you can do this year to make your life more productive and serve as a conscience for your community. This might be the year you run for a local office. Filing for local offices is open in most municipalities until the middle of January. Call me if you need advice on how to do this.

    WHAT YOU CAN DO…

    1. Listen to our show with Darrell Castle as we offer analysis of what happened last year and what we think will happen in 2015.

    2. I am trying to raise funds to be able to attend the National Religious Broadcasters Convention. A donation of any amount will be very beneficial for our future broadcasts and newsletters. Because we do not have any revenue stream, your donation is all we have and will be much appreciated. Most people do not realize we are a volunteer entity. You can mail a check to Cynthia Davis; 1008 Highway K; O’Fallon, Missouri 63366.

Thank you for joining us in our effort to heal our nation!

  • Merry Christmas

This was taken a few years ago when we were getting ready to pass out candy canes in a Christmas parade. This box of candy canes was a special surprise gift from a friend and it still makes me smile to remember all the blessings of that year! (Our daughter, Susanna, is helping me here.)

  • The Chicken Saga

This was one of our first flocks. Here I am with five of my children gazing at the day old chicks in our garage. Notice the heat lamp, the box they were shipped in, the feeder and the waterer filled with a special hydration blend with extra vitamins. You can learn so many lessons from chicks.

A few years ago, my daughter wanted to raise chickens, so she called our city hall and asked if that would be okay. The staff person told her O’Fallon didn’t have any laws against it, so we ordered our first flock.

It was a happy day when we got the call from the O’Fallon Post Office at 6:00 am telling us they had a box for us. We could hear the chicks peeping in the background. They were packed the day after they hatched and had been traveling for two days, so they were happy to find their new home.

The company ships them in lots of 25, so they can keep each other warm. We kept them in our heated garage for the first few weeks. When they got big enough to jump out of the incubator (swimming pool), they enjoyed walking around our garage. We bought the “special assorted bargain”, which means we didn’t find out what kind they were until their adult feathers came in around three to four weeks later. It was fascinating seeing all the different colors and physical features.
