  • Refugee Resettlement

We hear plenty about the problem of illegal aliens coming across our Mexican border, but we are hearing very little about those who are flooding our country through the refugee resettlement program. The refugees are automatically eligible for all our welfare programs and many other perks, such as sidestepping the normal hurdles other immigrants must cross.

Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana, said, “Immigration without assimilation is invasion.” The goal should be to help them find our American way of life. If we could get them integrated into our communities, into our churches, speak our language and love our country, it could benefit everyone.

But that’s not happening. If we look at France, Sweden, Germany and other countries in Europe, we will see what our future could look like. Once the Muslims reach a critical mass, the situation will be irreversible, and we will not be able to recover our country.

  • We Believe, We Vote!

    We Believe, We Vote 1

How many of you are tired of getting bamboozled time and again? A friend called me yesterday to ask me about what’s involved in vetting (evaluating) candidates. That’s a great question because most of the people who care about our country realize that unless we start vetting candidates, we are in for one disappointment after another.

It’s possible to still be let down by the person we supported, but if we learn to vet the candidates first, there will be fewer surprises.

Here are some of the problems that make it difficult to vet candidates:

1.) They usually keep their contact information hidden. Years ago when I ran for public office for the first time, it would have been embarrassing to have an unlisted phone number. I expected my constituents to call me at home. Now, they keep their home information as a tightly guarded secret, and the only way to make contact with most of your city and school officials is to call the district office switchboard and leave voice mail. Good luck getting your calls returned.

This bothers me because if an elected official doesn’t want voter contact, he shouldn’t put his name on the ballot. They now use the staff to buffer interaction. However, the one moment when they want contact with voters is during the election season.

This is a photo of me with Ray Moore, President of Frontline Ministries, Inc. and the Director of the Exodus Mandate Project. I interviewed him this week for our Home Front Show. You will enjoy hearing his perspective on education.

    Where our culture is today:

1.) Our Nation has become far less Christian, as evidenced in the deterioration of the family. What do all these mass shooters have in common? No father in the home.

2.) Islam, with its anti-Christian agenda, is on the rise. Most of the recent shootings have been either an attack on our military or Christians.

We reap what we sow. When parents model marriage-absence and our public schools teach that anti-Christian religions are good, what else should we expect? Common Core curriculum may sound like a great idea on paper, but it was designed by people who want to disrupt our traditional American way of life. It is accelerating the proliferation of another agenda.

  • Speaker of the House

    Speaker of the House 1

While listening to a talk show Saturday, I heard Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer discussing John Boehner’s resignation. Luetkemeyer credited the outgoing Speaker with growing the largest Republican majority since 1947. So now we know the Speaker is responsible for those electoral victories. The credit was attributed to his ability to generate campaign donations. It’s not about the character, the platform, the virtues, the fiscal or social policies. It’s about the money.

After listening to a lot of rhetoric about the direction of Washington DC, it seems like the representatives created this climate by choosing which Speaker could raise the most money for their reelection bids. This is common on all levels of government.

We may never hear what the House members did to encourage John Boehner to leave, but we should hope that the Senators will do the same to replace their leader with one more interested in the good of America as well.

  • Who’s In Charge?

This is our anniversary week and this is what we looked like 35 years ago. In case you can't tell, this is the moment when we got into my groom's pick up truck. He was getting ready to drive me away from the Church as his new bride moments after our wedding. SOMEONE put shaving cream all over the steering wheel and there was confetti coming out of the blower all over the place.

Understanding the murky waters of our Nation’s marriage policy comes down to grasping who’s in charge. There is a lot more the non-judicial branches can do to put some monsters back in their boxes. Fortunately, there are some options available. The only question remaining is whether the current office holders will wield the authority vested in them by the Constitution.

Although the Federal government is stepping into the jurisdiction of the states, there are some meaningful ways to establish clear boundaries. In fact, the states owe it to the national government to demand the line not be crossed.

  • Persecution: Are They Coming For Us Yet?

Persecution Are They Coming For Us Yet 1

Last May I was invited to attend the St. Charles County Christian Home Educators High School graduation. I am pictured here in the dignitaries row with colleagues from Lindenwood University and St. Charles County Community College. As I sat there, I reflected on how great it is that we still are able to educate our children in the manner we see fit without fear of persecution. Now, with the recent attack on the Kentucky clerk, I wonder how long we will enjoy our freedoms before more of them are gone.

PERSECUTION: n. The act or practice of persecuting; the infliction of pain, punishment or death upon others unjustly, particularly for adhering to a religious creed or mode of worship, either by way of penalty or for compelling them to renounce their principles.

If you think the story is going to stop with just the clerk from Kentucky, fasten your seat belts because we are in for a rough ride. The radical Left is trying to create a new country—one where the Christians are banished from all public offices.

Last week I went to Washington DC to attend a debate workshop at the Leadership Institute. Here is a photo we snapped of some of the people who were in the class with me. If you have any questions about how to get training, please ask me.

  • It’s About the Money, Honey

Some of you may remember a few years ago when a presidential candidate made a famous quote, “It’s the economy, stupid!” While some people might think that, if it were true, Obama would never have been elected to a second term.

Obviously, there’s a lot more that goes into what motivates people than just money. I have had the responsibility of working with some of these like-minded people. After being in the Missouri State Legislature for eight years, one gets the idea that money is the only essential element. Fortunately, I have been able to refresh myself with those who know better.

A few weeks ago, we were invited to a birthday party for a St. Louis legend, Harold Hendrick. Harold is best known for doing a radio program on Bott Radio Network called, “Encounter”. It is an honor to know a godly man who, for decades, has faithfully confronted the shifting culture with Christian principles.

    Does Money Trump Message 1

This is a picture of my newest grandchild, Timothy Gordon Davis, who was born last week. He is welcomed by his parents, John and Emily Davis and his three sisters. Our son, John is a credentialed philosopher and judging from the pose, it appears we might have another philosopher in the family.

  • What’s A Person To Do?

Whats A Person To Do 1

There’s a right way and a wrong way to handle being pulled over by a member of the law enforcement community. Many of the problems Ferguson has are related to how the police and citizens view each other.

In the short summary, most of our problems are created by ungodly attitudes on both sides. Police officers are human beings and are also capable of making mistakes. On the other hand, most of the citizens who necessitate a visit from a police officer are not behaving in a civil manner. That’s why they are interacting with someone who can restore law and order and is expected to do that.
