  • When Congress Sinks to a New Low… We Have To Fire Congress!

We Have To Fire Congress 1

All rested up and ready to go back into the political arena.  Join me as we deliver the message that we need to fire Congress!

Some people are wondering why I would want to get back into that “dirty business”.  As hard as I have tried to look the other way, our culture demands that we do something for our Country.

If you don’t want to be a candidate yourself, join me in the battle for the soul of our Nation.  That’s why I went to Jefferson City today to file for US Congress.  We are starting our “Fire Congress Tour” where I will be visiting each one of our 13 counties in the next few days.

  • Happy Easter!

From Our Family To Yours---We hope you have a faith-and-family-filled Resurrection celebration.
From Our Family To Yours—We hope you have a faith-and-family-filled
    Resurrection celebration.

Sometimes it’s easy to get down when we look at all the politics in our Country.  Yet, there are flickers of hope all around.  Now that Missouri is past our Presidential Primary, we can focus on the municipal elections—which are coming up in two weeks!

Every election, people come into my store asking me for advice on how to vote effectively.  While the issues may be different, the principles are the same.

I always vote against superficial tax increases.  You’d be surprised at how well a government can function just fine on its current level of funding.  If it can’t function with its existing funds, perhaps it would be better to find elected officials who know how to manage on the current budget.

  • Our Military

My Air Force son is on the Left side of the picture.  This was taken the last time we were together in November.  It may look a little crazy, but that's what happens when people have been married 35 years and have seven children and ten grandchildren and are still fortunate to have parents around.

When my son asked me about joining the Air Force, I requested he stay with us until I finished my campaign for State Representative.  I needed him to head up my signage committee, so I asked him to wait until after the election.

The same week I was sworn in as State Representative, he was sworn into the Air Force.  We have seen a lot of changes since then.  Some of the changes have involved putting women in combat, muzzling the Chaplains, allowing homosexuals and those who are confused about their gender to enlist.  Have we turned our military into a social experiment?

That was 13 years ago.  Now my son is a navigator and has been sent to the Middle East. He is in an area so dangerous that he can’t tell me where he is stationed, what he is doing or why he is there.  Just about the only thing we can discuss is what they are giving him to eat and the quality of what they define as “coffee”.

The President of the United States has the power to greatly provoke other nations, yet only Congress has the power to declare a war.  The Vietnam War, The Korean War and the Gulf War were not “wars” because they were never declared by Congress.

  • Feel The Heat

    Feel The Heat 1
We took a step into the sunshine last week in California.  It’s good to be back home in Missouri.

An old expression goes, “If  you can’t make them see the light, you need to make them feel the heat.”  That explains the mission of Heritage Action.  It seems like our representatives in government are all talk, but no walk….all jawbone, but no backbone.

With all these presidential primaries and caucuses, it’s hard to turn on the news without being inundated with all the politics.  After awhile it becomes nauseating because it seems like the people who know how to run the country are staying home and the ones who are in office are driving us straight into the ground.

But on today’s edition of “Home Front”, we offer you some ideas for how you can hold your elected officials accountable.  Our guest, Ben Evans, is from Heritage Action for America.

Ben is the Central Regional Coordinator for Heritage Action and does a great job of explaining the problems and offering us the solutions.

If  you could have any wish you asked for, what would you like your elected officials to do?

  • Can You Change Your Gender?

Can You Change Your Gender 1

It seems like most “transgenders” trying to force their issues are men trying to get into the ladies’ locker rooms or bathrooms.  Have you ever heard of the reverse scenario – where women are trying to get into the men’s locker rooms or bathrooms?  I have not.

Men and women are different. More men like to see undressed women than women like to see undressed men.  Not to always use Washington State as an example of the extremism, but here is another story that just happened of a man trying to strip in front of a girls swim team claiming the new “transgender” laws allow him to do this.

There’s a push from many sides to sexualize our entire culture:  laws, court cases, public school classes, TV shows, movies and all the other “politically correct” cultural influences.  The efforts to showcase deviancy is designed to desensitize us and make us regard pathological behavior as normal and expected.

  • When Is It Time To Take A Stand

When Is It Time To Take A Stand 1

The Story from Oregon touched my heart.  However, it was difficult to find out what was happening.  Many news outlets showed bias. The information trickling out conflicted.

What is the proper role of government?  There was plenty of blame to go around and plenty of armchair coaching, but a core issue was whether our government would turn on its own citizens.

For the sake of saving you time, here is my analysis of what happened:

  • Happy Valentine’s Day

    Happy Valentine's Day 1
My Daughter, Susanna, Me, My Sister’s Daughter, Hannah and My Sister, Cathy.

The song goes, “Love Is a Many Splendored Thing”.  Perhaps the more accurate title should be, “Love is a Many Splintered Thing”!  Our society is riddled with more splintered relationships than I ever remember in my lifetime.

A movie called, “It’s Complicated”, revolves around so many messy relationships there is no other way to describe the characters’ lives.  Today many still say, “It’s complicated” to explain their own lives.  We, as a society, can do better.

A constituent wrote me asking about the various presidential candidates and how we are going to shore up the diminishing middle class.  The greatest harm done to the middle class is from the destruction of marriage.

  • Entitlements

    Entitlements 1

Personal responsibility is at an all time low. Most members of Congress would rather give lobbyists what they want than to stand on principle. Many voters are willing to sell their votes for the politician who will give them the most “goodies”.

We may not be able to fix Congress, but we still might be able to help the younger generation. If you have children or grandchildren, there’s still time to prepare them for what they may face in the future. The only way the future will be brighter for them is if they carry the torch of freedom.

  • Helping Our Neighbors

While at the Eagle Forum Conference, I visited with some colleagues in the battle to save our country. I am here with Bobbi Schuessler, account executive and Rich Bott at the Bott Radio Network Booth. In the background is Judy Sofka with the Missouri Precinct Project.

You can help others in your community just by shopping in your community. When I was on the O’Fallon Board of Aldermen, the Economic Development department had an annual “Business Appreciation Barbecue”.

The City provided all the food and invited all the businesses. For several years, the business owners were offered a “take-home” souvenir glass. It feels good to be appreciated and develop a cooperative partnership between businesses and government.

When it comes to serving our communities, the internet has been a difficult competitor. A lot of people have no idea how much it helps their own cities when they do business with their neighbors. While many people are proud of the sales tax they are saving by buying online, they may not realize these taxes allow us to have paved streets, plowed streets, street lights, police protection, fire dousing services, ambulance transportation and many other services.

Once again we are coming up on the anniversary of one of the worst US Supreme Court decisions in history. Instead of more “armchair hand-wringing”, I recommend we take a more active approach.

First, get informed about all of the ways in which human life is being abused. Even though the Supreme Court made a bad decision long ago, the people in this Country are not bound by that opinion.

Second, regardless of how you regard the weight of the US Supreme Court OPINION, the Congress is under no obligation to fund abortion. There are legislative remedies available RIGHT NOW that are not being employed.
