  • The Declaration

Last week I spoke at the Jefferson County Republican Club.  We were privileged to get to sit at the same table with Mike Reuter. Our message was warmly received by so many great folks who care about the direction our Country is heading.  It was very encouraging to be among lots of like-minded people.

Everyone in America celebrates the Fourth of July. We all know that it’s a patriotic holiday. Nearly all the festivities center around
recreation and entertainment, with little to no acknowledgment of what we’re commemorating. Most people think it’s about how we were unhappy with the King, independence from Great Britain, then there was a war, and we won the war, so therefore we’re celebrating. Yea!

  • Three Boxes

    Three Boxes 1
This is a picture of the first sample ballot I received with my name on it.  The County clerks are required to send a sample to each candidate so we can check to see if our name is spelled correctly.  There’s something about seeing my name on the ballot for the first time that brings home the reality that this is really going to happen.

Bob Parker, our guest on our Home Front Show this week said, “We have three boxes:  The Ballot Box, the Soap Box and the Ammo Box”. The majority of legislators in Congress claim to be pro-second amendment, so why are they spending their time in session discussing how they can place more hardships on our good law-abiding citizens?  Evil didn’t originate from an act of Congress and it cannot be eradicated by an act of Congress.  Can someone please explain to them that they are under no obligation to placate the man occupying the White House?

As long as there are elections, we can still make a difference.

For now, I’m changing the Country by working through the ballot box. I urge you to use the ballot box as well. It’s time to send new people with a new tone to Washington, DC. We have an opportunity like never before to change our Congress!

  • Father’s Day

    Father's Day 1
Our grandson stopped by the bookstore the other day for a visit.  It’s never too early to start them on a merchandising project.

I wish all of our readers a happy Father’s Day this Sunday.  They deserve honor. The great men of this Country have a heavy responsibility for guiding their families with the moral backbone necessary to right this ship.

Despite the “political correctness” trying to neuter all of us, fathers are irreplaceable.  Those who face this Father’s Day without their dads also know that fathers are essential and usually feel a void in their lives that remains as long as we live.  Fathers are not interchangeable with mothers.  Here is an article that explains some of the differences and why both are important.

  • What Are We Fighting For?

What Are We Fighting For 1

“Nil desperandum, — Never Despair. That is a motto for you and me. All are not dead; and where there is a spark of patriotic fire, we will rekindle it.”

    ― Samuel Adams

So how do we fight against discouragement?  We need to go back to our National Motto:  “IN GOD WE TRUST”.

I am encouraged by YOU!  At least there are some people out there who understand what’s going on in our Nation.  You, my reader, understand more than most people, but I want you to know what a blessing it is to me to hear your replies to my newsletters and knowing that you are out there joining us in supporting our efforts.

We must vote for representatives who have sound judgment, integrity, fortitude and the moral leadership necessary to restore our Country. If you want to gain a deeper understanding of why I would engage in the battle, please take the time to look at the scorecards.  There are plenty of organizations that want to help us connect the dots.

  • Memorial

    Memorial 1

My son gave me this lapel pin when he was in boot camp. It is for parents of Air Force personnel. He’s now deployed over in the middle east charged with the duty of “creating world peace”. This emblem is more meaningful to me now than ever.  He is in harm’s way like never before. I use it as a prayer reminder.

Parents have no idea when their children join the military how much it may cost them. We train our children to be patriotic and love our Country, so hearing your child was killed by those who hate us, simply because he put on the uniform, is a level of pain beyond comprehension.

One of my friends had a son who was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. She lived in Alaska and a memorial was created in his memory. We were driving along the Glenn Highway, looking for the Matanuska Glacier, when we came across this memorial. Now you folks in Missouri who may never get to Alaska can see it too.

  • Can We Downsize Government?

I was on the Marc Cox show last week.  If you want to hear the segment, you can click here:

    Can We Downsize Government 1
Cynthia Davis on The Marc Cox Show: This Is The Most Republican District In MO, And He’s Voting To The Left

When some people hear about any problem, their first reaction is to try to figure out how government can fix it.  While government can solve some problems, government can’t solve everything.  When government does solve a problem, it  usually comes with a high price tag, is less efficient than if we solved it ourselves and may harm others with unintended consequences.

Congress has the lowest approval rating in history.  It is now down to 11% approval.  If we continue to give these legislators more time in Washington to continue ruining our country, then it’s no wonder people are losing their optimism.

  • What Happened to Our Religious Freedom?

This picture was taken over three years ago at a Religious Freedom Rally in Springfield, Missouri.  I was talking with Tom Martz right before I was about to address the audience.  Religious freedom is a very familiar topic for both of us.

Our Country was founded on religious freedom.  The original pilgrims came to our country because they were not offered religious freedom in the motherland.  There has been so much confusion over the Religious Freedom Bill in the Missouri State Legislature, it is time for me to address this in our newsletter.

Regardless of how you felt about SJR39, I am here to offer you comfort and encouragement.  The Missouri Constitution states that nobody nor any government can interfere with our consciences.  This is both simple and broad.  Article 1, Section 5 says:

“That all men have a natural and indefeasible right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences; that no human authority can control or interfere with the rights of conscience;…”

  • Can Government Get Back in the Box?

Last week we met with the O'Fallon Patriots!   So grateful there are people who want to fix our country.

So grateful there are people who want to fix our country.

My daughter came home from her graduate school last weekend and brought another student who was from China.  Her friend asked me why I got involved in politics.  I can understand how difficult this may be to understand for someone who is from a Communist country, but it’s a good question for all of us to answer.

The greatest reason for us to get involved is because we can make a difference!  We live in a Country where our actions today will affect the future generations.  This is a serious and powerful motivator.

Our system is designed so that our ideas and the way we act on our ideas have an effect.  As I have traveled around the district, it surprises me to see how much enthusiasm exists for our  effort to challenge the status quo.

  • The Tax Man Cometh

This is what I looked like at the polls last Tuesday.  That's before the voters finished voting to put their neighbors into deeper bondage with yet ANOTHER tax increase!
This is what I looked like at the polls last Tuesday.  That’s before the voters finished voting to put their neighbors into deeper bondage with yet ANOTHER tax increase!

This is the week when many taxpayers are confronted with the April 15th deadline for filing their income taxes.  One of my constituents called me on the phone and asked me what I thought about it.  The simplest way to explain it is like this:

If you wanted to donate your own money to the cause, nothing is stopping you from doing this right now.  The purpose behind a tax increase is to use the iron fist of government to compel one’s neighbors to pay more than they would have been willing to pay from their own reasoning—and possibility from their own ability.

I feel sorry for all of us—those who are either ill-informed or don’t care about the hardships they may be putting on others.  The nature of tax increases is that there will never be enough money for all the projects bureaucrats can invent.  We already experience tax increases through inflation.  Therefore, when taxing jurisdictions claim they haven’t had a tax increase in so many years, that’s because the system was designed to be proportionate to property values.  It inflates up (and on rare occasions can go down) with the wealth of the community.

  • What Does the Constitution Have To Say About the DNR, the BLM and the EPA?

What Does the Constitution Have To Say 1
I was invited to speak at a rally last Saturday.  Here is a picture of me with some of the other speakers, Doug Enyart and Bob Parker.

    ANSWER:   NOTHING!

The Constitution says it is the duty of the Congress to make all laws. The very first sentence of the Constitution starts off with this:  “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives.”

    Simple Definition of “all”

    • : the whole, entire, total amount, quantity, or extent of
    • : every member or part of
    • : the whole number or sum of

If we created a “Frankenstein”, we need to un-create it or do whatever is necessary to get it back under control.
