• Using Government Against Political Enemies

The purpose of government is to protect our rights.  For this to work, we all need to play fair.  Regardless of who’s in power, we should all demand that our government stay on it’s original duty.  It sickens me to watch members of our Congress, who are supposed to be making and repealing laws, conduct hearings to shame and humiliate those who are testifying.

When I was the chairman of a committee in the Missouri House, my goal was to allow the witness to explain why a proposed bill was either good or bad.  I kept our committee on the topic at hand.  When I watch the members of the US House, many of them put on theatrics and disrespecting the witnesses. It is bad enough to make one wonder why anyone would testify on anything.  These bad actors are ruining the dignity and decorum of our government.

  • Pro-Life Questions

This is me with my granddaughter.  All life is precious.
If you agree, we need to rethink why so many proposed
“Pro-life laws” have exceptions.   Every one of those exceptions is a baby!
When will we say, “No!  We don’t kill other humans!”?

  • This is How We Fight Our Battles

Years ago, a student would be sent to the principal’s office for using profanity.   Now teachers are asking students to use profanity!

We went from a time when they threw “religion” out of schools to a time when God is brought back in so He can be openly mocked.

We went to the Lindbergh School District Board meeting to ask the members to adopt a policy against using profanity in the classroom. They told me they’ll get back to me later. I’m still waiting…

  • The Condition of Christianity

Recently I was surprised to find Cindy Redburn at an event about the Lavoy Finicum tragedy.  We were able to hear from his widow about the details of his life and why it’s important for us to be Constitutional!

There are a lot of perspectives on how Christianity is doing.  I was appalled a few weeks ago when the United Methodist Denomination felt it necessary to take a vote on allowing sexual perverts to be leaders in their churches. Thankfully, they did the right thing, but the fact that they had to have this discussion says plenty.

If this denomination had not failed to exercise biblical church discipline earlier, it wouldn’t have come to this.  This vote was on the question of whether churches will live by the Bible or not.  What’s the point of having a church if God’s laws are volitional and no longer relevant?  It becomes nothing more than a tax-exempt social club!

Some on the left end of the political spectrum have wormed their way into churches for the opportunity to manipulate the direction of the church.  Their goal is to make ideas – abhorrent to our faith – seem socially acceptable.

    Play

We’ve all had some good times, but I know there are some pretty bad bumps in the road. We’ve all hit these bumps.  It’s just a matter of time. The old expression asking us to make lemonade doesn’t always work.

On today’s show, we talk about how we handle some of life’s greatest disappointments and give you some tools to deal  with them. We interview Aubrey Sampson.  Aubrey is the Director of Discipleship and Equipping at Renewal Church in the Chicago area.  She is the author of book, The Louder Song — Listening for hope in the midst of lament.

  • Babies Born Alive

Last week, many pro-life leaders from around the state were invited to attend an event to discuss legislation to save babies who have been aborted, yet survived. (L to R, Judy Sofka – “Missouri Precinct Project”, Me, Zina Hackworth – “This Race Will Self Destruct”, and Bev Ehlen- “Concerned Women for America”)

Sometimes it seems like our human race will self-destruct!  I can hardly believe the debates going on about how we treat the unborn and the newly-born!  Some people think technology is furthering our progress because we now have the ability to see the baby on an ultrasound and know so much more about fetal development.  Yet, here we are watching some states push for unthinkable and horrific treatment of our most innocent youngsters.  19 states have legitimized the right to kill the baby up until the minute before he or she is born and some after the baby is born!

People used to claim they were confused about whether it was a baby or when it had a heartbeat or when the baby felt pain.  Now, we have seen the humanity of babies and it’s far past time to confront this as blatant evil.  We should have been past this discussion 45 years ago!

Shockingly, 19 states now allow infanticide.  Even if a mom doesn’t want to raise her baby, there is no medical reason to kill the baby.  Attempts at late-term abortions have resulted in premature births.  When this happens, the doctor should be prosecuted for malpractice having caused a deliberate premature birth at enormous medical and physical cost.  There is no reasonthe baby should have to suffer or die just because the mother doesn’t want to raise him or her.  It is never acceptable to kill people we don’t like!

  • The State of Our Unity

This is a picture from the State of the Union address. Her hair looks great.
Her makeup artist did a good job, but is anyone else distracted by the way people
are posed directly behind the President?  Her makeup artist did a good job, but is anyone else distracted by way people are posed directly behind the President?

While I was in the House of Representatives, we had an annual “State of the State Address”.  I served under two different Democrat Governors and one Republican Governor.  My colleagues showed me how we could clap without it making any sound, so we would appear cordial for the cameras while not lending any support to bad ideas.

When his speech started, I thought the ladies in white were nurses.  Some people thought they looked like pastry chefs.  After awhile it became obvious that they wanted to dress alike so we could tell they are forming a team.  How unfortunate that we can’t just all be Americans.  The women in white applauded more for themselves getting elected than for anything else.

I loved it when the President said early in his speech, “Victory is not winning for our Party.  Victory is winning for our Country.”  Many people in the opposition party had trouble clapping for that.  The Democrats couldn’t even clap for the idea of putting human traffickers out of business.  What does that tell you?
