• Transgender Issues

    Play

On today’s show, we talk about a topic most talk shows will avoid….what’s involved in transgenderism.

Today we interview Dr. Cretella  Dr. Cretella is the President of the American College of Pediatricians and a general pediatrician with a special interest in behavioral pediatrics. She was elected to the College’s Board of Directors in 2005. Prior to being elected President in 2015, Dr. Cretella chaired the Adolescent Sexuality Committee, Pediatric Psychosocial Development Committee, and Scientific Policy Committee. In these roles she became one of the College’s chief researchers, writers and spokespersons on issues of pediatric mental and sexual health.

I ask the hard questions you should be afraid to google and you will be surprised by the answers we get.

  • New Year, New Economy

This is a picture from Christmas this year. Back Row: Nephews, David and Daniel, me, husband, Bernie, my parents, Marylin and Gordon Gosh.  Front row:  four of our children, Susanna, Philip, Cathryn, Matthew and the camera shy dog, Archer

    Happy New Year to All!

One of our traditions is to have a sing-a-long on Christmas.  It’s hard to separate the music from the day.  Yet, for some people certain songs make us sad because of the memories attached.   Do you have one song where you feel irritated every time you hear it?  I certainly do.

One of my friends helped me get over it by writing this:

“I just love the look on people’s faces when I am in a store and make up religious lyrics to whatever secular “Christmas” song is playing on the speakers overhead.

    For example:

    Last Christmas,
    I gave You my heart.
    That very day,
    You Took my sins away.

    All year,
    You Saved me from fear
    And Gave me
    A faith so special.

Nobody knows what to make of me… LOL”

After the stock market crash in October of 1987, Bob started his own investment management company that grew to over $15 million in less than 10 years. He then sold the company to his son in 1996 and now concentrates on writing for TNA.”

  • The Power of Being United

This is the picture that goes with our story.
I hope it touches your heart as much as it touched mine.

Recently, one of my friends shared something that helped me understand the importance of our message and our methods.

    Here is her story:

“When I got here, there was a woman who was holding a sign that said “Ask me how I can be a Catholic and queer.”  To my shame I walked past her.

I️ just passed her again and there was a young man engaging her in conversation. I waited until they were done with their conversation (which ended in a hug that she initiated) to ask the young man if he was Ryan Bomberger. He’s known as a terrific proclaimer of Truth about sanctity of human life. He can also proclaim God’s Truth and the gift of salvation-forgiveness-abundant life through Jesus. But then truth is truth. Thank you Ryan.”

  • He Holds My Hand

Last weekend I went to Kansas City to the American Renewal Project and ran into Rich Bott from Bott Radio Network.  Bott Radio is the largest Christian radio network in the Midwest.  We left encouraged and motivated to make a difference!

The holidays can be difficult for those who have experienced a tragedy this year.  My heart goes out to those who are facing an empty seat at the table.  Whether its a death, incarceration or broken home, there’s nothing like everyone else being happy to remind us of how empty we feel.

When I was in the Missouri State Legislature, I noticed many bills were written as public policy responses to personal tragedies.  Something bad would happen and people would say, “There ought to be a law against that.”  Next thing you know, they file bills to satisfy one unique situation and it further erodes freedom.  We often don’t find out about the unintended consequences until it’s too late.  Once a law is passed, it is very difficult to repeal.

  • Why We Fight

This is a picture we snapped on Thanksgiving Day with our son,
    Captain Ben Davis.

Do you think the Country is getting better or worse?  Some people want to look the other way and ask us to wake them up when the dust clears.

Why is it that some people don’t want to be bothered by what’s happening in our world?  One person said she was just not interested in politics.  I can understand people with varying degrees of interest, but in order to be a good citizen, ignorance is not an option.

We owe it to those who come behind us to have a prudent concern over the affairs governing our society.  Some people don’t care about burglaries—-until it happens to them.  Some don’t care about heart attacks or strokes until they or a loved one has one.  There’s nothing like being hurt that will make people think about protecting themselves.  Until we see the connection of how things impact us and our lives, it may be hard to care.

When I was in the Missouri State Legislature, we loved it when the opposing side was absent for committee meetings or the general session.  That meant we could do more business and move much faster.  The same is true about our country.  The less we show up and pay attention, the faster our Country promulgates bad laws, embeds more Socialism and we lose our freedom.

Some people think political ignorance is a personality issue.  If it is a personality trait, we can conclude that some personalities are prone to worry and have a fragile understanding of God’s provision.  However, even in the worst of times, it is possible for everyone to trust the One who called us to be here at this time, especially those who claim to be Christians.

There is something everyone can do.  Not everyone can run for office, but even something as small as re-posting my newsletter makes a difference.  Speaking up at the “water cooler”, sharing good information on Facebook or helping a good candidate run for office will move the dial.  We all have an obligation to be the salt of the earth and to advocate, promote and popularize truth.  Everything is either moving the ball forward or backward.

Political news, even if it’s bad news, doesn’t ruin my day because I am trusting God to take care of me and counsel me in my calling.  Let me encourage you to do the same.  We can be informed, aware and remain steadfast in our resolve to push for more Constitutional government.

  • Courage for the Unknown Season

This is a picture of me with our new staff at our new location for Back To Basics Christian Bookstore in the Mid Rivers Mall.  From L to R:  Michael, my parents, Gordon and Marylin, Cathryn, Matthew, Me and husband, Bernie.  I would never have guessed a few months ago that we would be opening up another store in the Mid Rivers Mall!

If you had told me last year all the events of this year, it would have been hard to believe!   It’s always surprising to see all the family changes from year to year.  Last week was the first time in decades I didn’t host Thanksgiving.  We moved the family, shut down the store, opened a new store, buried my brother and I turned a year older.  The only predictability is that things are always changing!

In a sense, we can say that all times are uncertain.  Our response to uncertainty shows our courage, or lack thereof.  It always shocks me when people are shocked.  There are advantages to being a pessimist!  We seem to survive our problems better because we not only expect them, we thought they’d be worse!
