Obama on Motherhood
Is President Obama’s focus on protecting our nation from foreign invasions and terrorist attacks or is he trying to be the “social engineer in chief”? I find it to be terribly off task for him to even be commenting on how we can get more of our children into institutionalized or outsourced child care settings.
As those in favor of socialism try to foist their ideology on America, it’s important for us to identify where this philosophy is flawed.
While Obama was still running to be the President, he started by telling America “If they [my daughters] make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby” (view video here.) So, if we begin with the premise that motherhood is a punishment, that explains the beginning of the problem.
Michelle, talked about how hard it was on her when her husband was a senator. It’s hard to feel sorry for someone complaining about her income when her husband was making about $67,000 per year as a state senator and about $174,000 per year as a US Senator, not to mention all the prestige that comes with the position. She said paying for full time babysitting was a financial loss. (Yes, it does cost money, but that’s what she wanted to do.) “We lost our babysitter which was probably the worst time of my motherhood. I was so devastated.” Michelle said at the Working Families Summit.
As a mother myself, I am happy to have influence in my children’s lives. Michelle, while attempting to appear typical, sounds absurd telling the story of how she, as the wife of a US Senator was offered a job working as a Vice-President of a hospital and how grateful she is that her employer rewarded her financially, (with $316,000 per year).
Recently, President Obama also let us know that we don’t want mothers to make the decision to stay home to raise their children. If you listen to this video, you will hear this: “That’s Not a Choice We Want Americans to Make”
- A mother who chooses to raise her own children is condemned to “earning a lower wage for the rest of her life as a result”.
- The powers that be do not want to let mothers make this choice. His exact words were, “That’s not a choice we want Americans to make.”
- By the end of this decade he wants all the preschoolers wrenched out of their homes and sent off to governmental institutions so that the government can tax their productivity.
This kind of thinking is insulting and degrading to the role of mothers in our society. The purpose of this article is not to ridicule these remarks, but to push back wherever we can to isolate this philosophy that might influence others to view the socialism of the family is an acceptable or even a preferred attitude.
