Jim
Guyre visited me at the Capitol last week. We had an opportunity to
visit shortly before the session began about the importance of having the
correct budget priorities during a tight budget year. Jim is
Executive Director of Valley Industries, a sheltered workshop for the
disabled. He and many others are providing a great service to our
communities by providing sheltered workshops so that those who are
disabled can have meaningful work experience. These sheltered
workshops are doing God’s work and deserve our support. We all
should do our part to make this a better world. I am so proud of all
those, who despite their physical or mental hardships, are still applying
themselves by contributing to the fullest of their abilities. They
deserve to be applauded. Cynthia in the
News ~ Healthcare Freedom Recently,
I had the opportunity to speak to the world about my Healthcare Freedom
Act on national network television, Fox Business News. The House of
Representatives had a public hearing on the su Link

Healthcare
seems to be on everyone’s mind. We can agree on the importance of
it, but we can’t seem to agree on how to make things better.
Here are
my concerns: 1.) Why is the same congress
that is vilifying the insurance companies for making so much profit trying
to force everybody to purchase more
insurance? 2.) Money that comes from the
taxpayers is coming from us. Elected officials appear to lack a
basic understanding of economics. Putting more people on Medicaid
doesn’t save us money, it costs us money. 3.)
Blaming
the uninsured for driving up the cost of healthcare is just as prejudiced
as blaming any other group of people merely by social or economic
affiliation, skin color or hair styles. Those with no insurance who
pay their bills in a timely manner are likely to pay their medical bills
in a timelier manner than the insurance
companies. Our enemy is not
the uninsured. Our problems are created by artificially inflated
prices, minimal disclosure and a lack of incentive to shop for
the most affordable medical care.
4.)
A
significant increase in paperwork and record keeping complying with
government mandates are driving up the costs and do little to improve the
quality of care. Your
thoughts are important to me, so please let me know what you think. You
can send me your opinion by clicking here: Cynthia Davis Quote of
the Week "I think
I'm a living example of when you make yourself useful, when you continue
to work hard, when you continue to believe in yourself, and when God wants
to use you in a special way, that anything is possible. I hope that when
people think back on my career, that's what they remember more than
anything else." ~ Kurt Warner (Retirement speech
