Just Filing One Bill

Can Make A Difference

File Size: 22 KBWho could imagine we would have such beautiful weather on election day?  Many of the schools were grateful for having the day off from classroom education.  A few years ago, a constituent asked me why our schools are open on election day and locked on the rest of the school days.  Because of this concern, I filed a bill to create an election day holiday for the public schools.

Although the bill did not pass into law, many schools liked the idea and voluntarily closed down on election day.  Cooperation on a good idea is always better than using the force of law.  Many ideas that come through the legislature can be accomplished more expediently through local efforts without “big mother” adding to the long list of rules.

Thank You!

I appreciate all those who live in our district who took the time to vote.  While some of you saw your favorite candidates win, others may have been disappointed.  Let not your heart be troubled.  Every election has its surprises.  America is still a great nation and Missouri is still a great state.  Even the unpleasantness of having the wrong candidate win is good for keeping us all humble and on our knees.  Something positive may result from the outcomes whether we have thought of it yet or not.  In the end, we have hope beyond our candidates.

As for my own election, thank you for trusting in me again to represent you in the Missouri House of Representatives. As I head back to the Capitol, I will always keep your views and ideals in my mind.

It will be interesting to see what direction our new Governor wants to take our state, but I can assure you that I will never back away from the principles and ideals that made our country great.  To me, the message is clear...keep fighting for stronger families, smaller government and lower taxes.

That’s just what I intend to do.

Your thoughts are important to me, so please let me know what you think about the election.  You can send me your opinion by clicking hereCynthia Davis.

Happy Veterans Day

Veterans Day recognizes the sacrifices of veterans of all wars to preserve the freedom and integrity of this great nation.  On November 11, all non-essential Missouri state offices and the State Capitol will be closed to honor these most special citizens.

The state has a toll-free hotline, (888) 390-9927, which provides an updated announcement of state office building closures in the event of an emergency or safety threat.  The number is for information only and will not accept messages from callers for follow-up.

A Little Bit of Humor…

Taxiing down the runway, a passenger jet abruptly came to a stop, turned around and returned to the gate. Eventually, after an hour-long wait, the flight finally took off.

A concerned passenger asked the flight attendant, "What was the problem?"

The attendant explained, "The pilot was bothered by a noise he heard in the engine."

“I hope it’s all sorted out now,” replied the nervous passenger.

"Oh yes, it’s fine now, sir. It just took us a while to find a new pilot."
